   The 1st Commencement Ceremony of CIST's Master's Program was held.

   Doctor's Program in Photonics Science of CIST was established.

   We concluded "Interinstitutional Agreement for Educational and Scientific Cooperation between University of POTSDAM (GERMANY) and CIST."

   We received the approval of the establishment of three new departments: Bio- and Material Photonics, Global System Design and Opto-electronic System Engineering.

   Tenth Anniversary Building was completed.

   We reorganized and established three departments: Bio- and Material Photonics, Global System Design and Opto-Electronic System Engineering.

   Our program was adopted as "Student Support Program for new social needs" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Technology.

3. August

   Our project was adopted as "Strategic Universities Collaboration Assistance Project" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Technology.

   "Ryoki-sai 10" was held.

   "The 4th Parent Meeting" was held.

5. October

   "9th Chitose International Forum on Photonics Science and Technology" was held.

   "Korea-Japan Joint Forum" was held.

   We concluded "The Comprehensive Agreement for Coordination and Cooperation" with Hokusei Gakuen University.

   Our program was adopted as "University education and Student Service Promotion Project, [Subject B] Student Service Promotion Program" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Technology.

   "Ryoki-sai 11" was held.

   Our project was adopted as "Strategic Universities Collaboration Assistance Project" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Technology.

   "The 5th Parent Meeting" was held.

   "10th Chitose International Forum on Photonics Science and Technology" was held.

   Teacher-Training Course was set up.

   We concluded "Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Credits" with Sapporo Medical University, Muroran Institute of Technology, Otaru University of Commerce and Health Sciences University of Hokkaido.

   Professor Masaaki Kawase was instated as the 4th President.

   Our project was adopted as "Development and Assistance Project for University-Students' career activities" by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports and Science Technology.
