CIST's Unique Identity

CIST's Unique Identity

CIST was established as a unique institute that features "Photonics Science" as its key word in April, 1998.We hope future students will live their school life with an intellectual curiosity in this advanced technological school.

One Faculty and One Graduate Program

The Faculty of Photonics Science started with 2 departments, Photonics Material Science and Applied Photonics System Technology in 1998. And in April, 2008, the faculty was reorganized into 3 departments, Bio- and Material Photonics, Global System Design and Opto-electronic System Engineering. Undergraduate students enroll in the Faculty and in the second year they choose their departments. We also have Graduate School of Photonics Science where graduate students earn Master's or Doctor's degrees in Science and Engineering.

Highly appraised education and research systems

We are making the best use of ingenuity so that students can understand the basic knowledge of Photonics Science.
Our faculty members are some of the best researchers in the world, who come from all walks of life, and we research worldwide connecting Hokkaido and the world to the future.

Friendly relationship between teachers and students
Friendly relationship between teachers and students

Many people say that the most admirable point of CIST is good communication between teachers and students.
The reason might relate to the fact that we are not a mammoth school and have a sense of unity, as if we were making history and a kind of new culture together.
We'd like you to experience this homey atmosphere and welcome you with open arms.

Study hard, enjoy your youth. The ideal campus is waiting for you.
Study hard, enjoy your youth. The ideal campus is waiting for you.

We have a large campus to inspire and bring out students' maximum potential, and it has a wonderful environment with seasonal beauty in Bibi Nature Park.

Meanwhile our school has highly precise equipment for cutting edge research.
As it were, this is an ideal campus with what we feel is a real harmony between nature and intelligence.

High employment rate shows CIST's excellent human resources

In Japan, these days have been called "Hard times for college graduate job seekers", but we have had over 95% placement rate since the first students graduated. Major companies and major national graduate schools have greathopes in our students who have advanced knowledge of Photonics Science.
