About Chitose
Chitose is the best city to live in because of
its perfect balance of city and nature.

Chitose is located in the midwest of Hokkaido
and it is a key junction of Air/Land transportation,
what's more, it also has beautiful nature with
forests and rich water such as “Shikotsu-ko”
the northenmost ice-free lake of Japan.

Regarding the climate of Chitose, it doesn't have
Bai-u (the rainy season), and is affected little by
typhoons and has the least snowfall in Hokkaido.
The quality of drinking water is very good
because it's taken from the spring of the famous
clean river, "Naibetsu."
The derivation of the name "Chitose"
Many cranes once inhabited around here.
So this city was named "Chitose", which means
Millenary for the old saying that, the Crane lives
to a thousand and the Tortoise lives to
ten thousand years.
The Crane is one of the symbols of prosperity.
