Seminar on International Collaboration (KMUTNB, Bangkok, Thailand)
On September 15th, we visited King Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB). KMUTNB is a comprehensive university established in 1959 through a joint initiative of the governments of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Federal Republic of Germany. The main purpose of our visit was to conclude a global partnership agreement (MoU) with KMUTNB. However, in addition to this ceremony, a seminar on studying abroad in Japan was held for graduate students in the morning.
This seminar was proposed by Associate Professor Krit Angkeaw, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at KMUTNB, and aimed to provide information about Japanese universities and student life.
The participants from Japan were Professor Yoshikazu Miyanaga, CIST President, Professor Akira Taguchi, Vice President of Tokyo City University, Mr. Masatoshi Takaya, President of Life Support Sarai Co., Ltd., and Mr. Takamichi Takebe, an advisor of that company. The seminar covered two topics: the international activities of Tokyo City University and the internationalization efforts of CIST.
Professor Taguchi explained that Tokyo City University has been promoting internationalization for many years. In particular, he described various kinds of international seminars held by the "Asia-Oceania Five Universities Alliance (AOFUA)," in which many students participate in some lectures and practical training sessions through the internet and on-site visits.
President Miyanaga introduced the fact that our university became a public university in 2019, the current educational and research activities of the university, and the fact that in a short period of six years, we have concluded global partnership agreements (MoU) with more than 20 universities worldwide, mainly in Asia. He also mentioned that an international center will be established in 2026 to expand student exchange programs and the acceptance of international students.
