Signing Ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Student Exchange Agreement (SEA) with National Ilan University (Yilan City, Taiwan)

On October 16th, Thursday, the MoU and SEA were signed between National Yilan University (NIU) and our university (CIST). NIU is a university with a long history, celebrating its 100th anniversary next year. Founded in 1926 as the Taipei Prefectural Ilan Agricultural and Forestry School, it became a national university in 2003. Originating from an agricultural science field, the university now offers 18 master's programs across 15 departments in four faculties: College of Engineering, College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, College of Bioresources, and College of Humanities and Management as well as a language center, a distance learning center, and an athletic education center. It is a university with a strong international flavor, actively accepting many international students from around the world.

The signing ceremony was attended by NIU President, Professor Wei-Jung Chen, Dean of International Affairs, Professor Shu-Ju Liu, Dean of College Engineering, Professor Hsin Yun Lee, Dean of College Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Professor Ter-Feng Wu, Dean of College Bioresources, Professor Shih-Bin Lin, Division Director of International Academic Cooperation, Professor Chen-Wei Liang, and several faculty and staff members involved in international collaboration. From CIST, President, Professor Yoshikazu Miyanaga, Executive Director attended. In addition, Dean, Faculty of Science and Engineering, Professor Naoto Yoshimoto, and the members of the Collaboration Promotion Division participated online. The MoU signing ceremony was followed by an exchange of commemorative gifts and a commemorative photo session.

After the ceremony, President Miyanaga visited the College of Engineering, the College of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, and the College of Bioresources, where he received explanations about education and research from several laboratories. Director Liu had already observed our university's education and research prior to the visit, and she was able to tour laboratories directly related to the research being conducted at our university.

The two universities also signed an agreement regarding student exchange, and we hope that this will lead to increased student exchange as well as joint research between faculty members.
