Visit to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (Taipei City, Taiwan)

On October 17, 2025, President Yoshikazu Miyanaga of our university paid a courtesy visit to National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST, Taipei, Taiwan). NTUST is the top-ranked national university in Taiwan specializing in science and technology. It was founded in 1972 as the National Taiwan Institute of Technology and renamed to its current name in 1997.  It boasts various facilities and a highly advanced educational and research environment. Our university signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) about an international cooperation agreement with NTUST in March 2025.

During this visit, NTUST was represented by President Jia-Yush Yen, Professor Ying-Jung Yeh (Vice President for International Affairs), Professor Yih-Lin Cheng (Acting Dean of the Faculty of Industry-Academia Collaboration and Innovation), Professor Shih-Hsiang Hsu (Director of the Silicon Technology Research Institute), and Ms. Natalie Ju (International Office, International Cooperation Coordinator).

The initial meeting included presentations on NTUST's recent educational and research activities and CIST's (Chitose Institute of Science and Technology) research activities. Detailed information was provided regarding NTUST's international student programs and student exchange programs.  Following President Yen's suggestion, both universities agreed to conclude a cooperation agreement regarding a student exchange program.

After the meeting, Professor Hsu led a tour of the research and development facilities for optoelectronic integrated devices. In Professor Hsu's laboratory, several graduate students explained their respective research topics, showcasing the optoelectronic integrated devices they had fabricated and demonstrating measurement equipment. These students were conducting their research with great enthusiasm, and with their future employment prospects in semiconductor-related companies, they are expected to make significant global contributions.
