International Collaboration Meeting with the University of Technology Sydney

On Monday, August 3, 2026, Professor Peta Wyeth, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), and Professor Eryk Dutkiewicz, Deputy Vice-President of Global Engagement at UTS, visited our university.
 

The University of Technology Sydney (UTS) is a public university located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Although it is a relatively young university, having been established just 35 years ago, UTS has achieved remarkable growth and recognition. It was ranked 88th in the QS World University Rankings 2025, placing it among the world’s top 100 universities.
 

At the international collaboration meeting held in the morning, our university was represented by President Yoshikazu Miyanaga, Professor Naoto Yoshimoto, Trustee and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Professor Kento Okoshi, Trustee and Dean of the Graduate School. The participants exchanged information on recent developments and topics of interest at their respective universities, as well as discussed future opportunities for collaboration.
 

The technical meeting in the afternoon was attended by President Yoshikazu Miyanaga, Professor Akira Taguchi, Vice President of our university; Professor Hiroshi Fukuda, Director of the Silicon Research Center; Professor Shigeki Hagiwara, Director of the Information Media Center; and Professor Yasuhiro Takano of the Department of Information Systems Engineering. The meeting included brief presentations on our university’s ongoing national projects, the activities of various research centers, and the research being conducted by individual faculty members.
 

A major focus of the meeting was the possibility of conducting joint research on next-generation semiconductor technologies. The participants agreed to further explore specific areas and frameworks for collaboration at both universities. As a next step, a follow-up collaboration meeting is scheduled to take place in November, when a delegation from our university will visit UTS in Sydney.
