Presidential Meeting at Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI)

By Yoshikazu Miyanaga

On May 23, 2025, a presidential meeting was held at the headquarters of the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI), organized at the invitation of Associate Professor Rungsun Lertnaisat, President of TNI.

The day before, the international IEEE conference ICBIR 2025 had commenced, with TNI serving as one of the host institutions. The conference took place on the TNI campus, and our university also participated as a technical co-sponsor. Since President Yoshikazu Miyanaga of our university was attending the international conference, this meeting was held in parallel.

In addition to President Rungsun Lertnaisat of TNI and President yoshikazu Miyanaga of our university, Professor Ryo Taguchi, Executive Director (external) of our university and Vice President of Tokyo City University (TCU), also attended the meeting. Members of TNI's International Affairs Office were present as well.

The meeting began with an introductory video presented by the TNI International Affairs Office, outlining the university’s profile. Following this, President Miyanaga introduced CIST and its recent initiatives, while Vice President Taguchi provided an overview of TCU and its latest activities.

President Rungsun then shared recent updates on TNI. The university comprises the Faculties of Engineering, Business Administration, Information Technology, and Global Communication, as well as an independent International College. In 2025, a new Faculty of Business and Industrial Digital Transformation was established. This move aligns with similar efforts in Japan to foster DX (Digital Transformation) professionals and reflects the Thai government’s initiative to advance DX human resource development.

One of the main topics discussed during the meeting was the recent request from the Thai government to develop human resources in the field of semiconductors. A lively exchange of ideas took place regarding the potential for collaboration in this area. President Miyanaga shared details about our university’s efforts to cultivate advanced DX and GX professionals at both undergraduate and graduate levels, which garnered strong interest and led to a mutual confirmation of sustainable international collaboration.
